The first four chapters cover the required topics every recreational boater should know, including rules of the road, boat types, required safety equipment, navigation aids, lights and sounds, anchoring, communications afloat, adverse conditions, water-sports safety, trailering, personal watercraft safety, knots and lines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The optional fifth chapter introduces digital charts and GPS waypoint navigation, providing a foundation for additional navigation courses.
